PHASES IN FERMENTATION

We can divide the components of the fermentation broth into three main phases:
1 Solid phase
2 Liquid phase
3 Gas phase

These three phases occur within the fermentation process not as independent entity but in most cases interact with each other to form complex interactions that will complicate the understanding and control of the fermentation process.

The two phases the liquid and the gas phases show similar characteristics in terms of their fluid or rheological behaviour
