THE HUMBLE BUT IMPORTANT O -RINGS IN FERMENTORS

O rings are cheap and simple structures. Yet they play such important roles in fermentors and its presence are often not appreciated or even "forgotten" until fermentation disasters occur.

O- rings function in sealing moving parts such as sensors and housings in fermentors. They are however subjected to mechanical and chemical stress which will shorten theor life span and function in the fermentor.

They should be replaced regularly and examined regularly for its worthiness and any physical defects or deformations. Replace O rings at least once a year

O rings should be superior in design, smooth and properly placed or aligned when using

New O rings should be lightly greased before use
